It seems they’ve finally done it. I have this hacked iphone in my hot little hands and I have to tell you that it is the real deal. For those of you trying to get around paying over $100 per month for very basic AT&T service, you know exactly what I mean.
Previously, if you wanted an iPhone without AT&T being required, you basically had about two options. You could acquire or make your own unlocked iPhone by either buying the phone on EBay or by hacking it yourself. This was sometimes dicey though because not only did it not always work, the methods used to hack the phone (turbosim, stealthsim, nextsim, etc.) could sometimes effect how well or if all of the features worked. For instance, sometimes in a hacked iPhone EDGE, SMS, YouTube, weather, Google maps, stocks, the iTune store or Bluetooth were not always fully functional.
Also, by hacking the phone, you were voiding any warranty that you had with Apple. This means if something went wrong with the phone, you were on your own to fix and pay for it.
The second option was buying an iClone. I have some of the CECT models and I must say they are nice and have features that the iPhone doesn’t have. But, I also know that for most people, nothing else will do but an iPhone. For those people, the solution you have been waiting for is here.
Some very creative folks have found a way to unlock, the new 8GB MA712LL/A 1.13 software version of the iPhone without effecting the phone or Apple’s warranty. The phone is unlocked via new software that doesn’t physically affect the phone at all. In fact, all of Apple’s protective packaging was still on the phone that I bought.
These phones will work with any carrier that uses a GSM or sim card (which in this case isn’t altered or cut), like T Mobile, AT&T, Cingular, Rogers, Fido, Vodaphone, Orange, and O2, to name a few, or any GSM carrier worldwide.
The seller has not altered the phone or cut or altered the sim, so your Apple warranty is still fully intact. And, every feature that I have tested has worked perfectly on this phone including EDGE, SMS, YouTube, stocks, weather, the iTune store and Bluetooth. The phone was literally plug and play. It automatically recognized and formatted my sim.
These phones have been bought directly from the Apple store and as you might guess are flying off the shelves. They are running around the $450 and up range depending on where you get them, but as we all know this a price we’ll gladly to pay to have what we’ve been waiting for all along.

Unlock iPhone

As we reported earlier, both PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac and Sn0wbreeze 2.2 for Windows are now available which can preserve baseband, and jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on iOS 4.2.1 firmware.
This new version of PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze also incorporates kernel based GreenPois0n exploit, which means that you can now create untethered 4.2.1 custom firmware files without the upgraded baseband so that you can unlock with current version of Ultrasn0w.
Simply follow the step by step instructions in the video embedded below to create custom 4.2.1 IPSW file without the upgraded baseband to jailbreak your iOS device.
Once you are done with the jailbreak, you can unlock your iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G on the old baseband using Ultrasn0w 1.2.
NOTE: You can also use this with iPhones which are flashed on 06.15 baseband so you can restore with this CFW (custom firmware).

TELUS starts unlocking wireless devices on February 15
TELUS customers enjoy more more flexibility and freedom
Toronto, ON – TELUS today announced that starting February 15, “unlocking” will be available for most SIM-based devices (IDEN and HSPA) for TELUS postpaid customers. This new service is the latest in a series of initiatives to enhance the customer experience at TELUS by providing more flexibility and freedom in the way customers use their wireless devices.
“Wireless devices are far more sophisticated and powerful than they were even five years ago and our customers are asking us now to give them the freedom and flexibility to use these devices as they wish. We are listening and responding to their needs, through services like device unlocking,” said David Fuller, Chief Marketing Officer at TELUS. “It’s all part of our commitment to continue to drive flexibility, simplicity and transparency within our offerings. Over the last few years, we’ve eliminated system access and carrier 911 fees, designed simpler family plans, created proactive alerts that notify customers going over their data allotments, and created options for our customers to upgrade to a new device faster. Helping our customers to unlock their device is just one more step in this overall service evolution.”
Customers subscribing to a monthly plan (postpaid) and using an active and eligible SIM-based device for a minimum of 90 days will be eligible to have their device unlocked for a fee of $50.
TELUS is commited to offering the best overall customer experience in the industry. As a part of our quality mandate, TELUS works closely with leading manufacturers to ensure that their devices are built and tested for optimal performance on TELUS’ network. During that process, TELUS locks the devices in order to maintain TELUS-specific configuration settings such that customers are getting the best possible experience when using applications and services on TELUS’ network.
